Anti-Money Laundering Trainee

Trainee (m/f/d) – EU Anti-Money Laundering Package (AMLR, 6AMLD, AMLAR & TFR), Regulatory Compliance & RegTech

About the Opportunity

Start your professional career at the intersection of European financial regulation, artificial intelligence and regulatory technology.

The European Union is fundamentally transforming its regulatory framework for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT). The new EU AML package establishes a more harmonised regulatory framework, introduces directly applicable requirements for obliged entities and strengthens European AML/CFT supervision through the new European Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA).

These developments create significant challenges and opportunities for financial institutions, regulatory compliance professionals and technology providers. The implementation of the new European AML/CFT framework requires innovative approaches combining regulatory expertise, risk management, data analytics, artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

At Leitner & Associates, we offer motivated graduates and early-career professionals the opportunity to join our team as a Trainee in EU Anti-Money Laundering, Regulatory Compliance & RegTech.

Our trainee programme is designed to provide a structured introduction to financial regulation, AML/CFT compliance, regulatory implementation and technology-driven compliance solutions.

You will work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to practical projects and progressively develop the technical, analytical and professional skills required for a career in regulatory consulting, financial crime prevention and regulatory technology.

Your Focus

Your traineeship will primarily focus on the new European AML/CFT regulatory framework, including:

  • Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR) – Regulation (EU) 2024/1624, introducing harmonised and directly applicable AML/CFT requirements.
  • Sixth Anti-Money Laundering Directive (6AMLD) – Directive (EU) 2024/1640, addressing national AML/CFT mechanisms, supervision, Financial Intelligence Units and related institutional requirements.
  • AMLA Regulation (AMLAR) – Regulation (EU) 2024/1620, establishing the European Anti-Money Laundering Authority and its supervisory responsibilities.
  • Transfer of Funds Regulation (TFR) – Regulation (EU) 2023/1113, governing information accompanying transfers of funds and certain crypto-assets.
  • AMLA Regulatory Instruments – Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS), Implementing Technical Standards (ITS), Guidelines (GL) and Recommendations, including consultation drafts, final draft standards and their subsequent regulatory development.

You will gain an understanding of how European regulatory requirements are interpreted, translated into practical obligations and implemented within financial institutions and other obliged entities.

Depending on your qualifications and interests, your development may focus on regulatory compliance, risk management, data analytics, artificial intelligence, automation or regulatory technology.
